Busy Hands Are......Busy!

It's March 1st and today finds me finishing up aprons (with lots of vintage fabrics) and figuring out which ones to use for an upcoming photo shoot for Edible Memphis. Spring break starts for my youngest on Monday (for two weeks) and my oldest has his the week after. There's a birthday party to plan, make things for and throw! Lots to do, but that doesn't seem different than any other month.

A stitch in time

Trying to "build" my inventory. I've never been good at this, so what better time to start than the new year? I'm also trying to learn to sew more efficiently, thus making it easier to "build" my inventory. We'll see how this works. Should I sew in all the same color for a few days? All the same style pattern? It takes me at least one full day to make just one apron if it's a more difficult one. Plain aprons with ruffles for women or little girls are much faster and butcher style aprons are easy peasy. Full aprons and half aprons require hand sewing though and adding rick rack and other accents takes even longer. How do I make this happen faster? Elves. That's my answer. Until I find said elves I'll have to work as best I can on my own. I'm so looking forward to August though. My mom retires in July and she says she's going to start helping me sew. Maybe she can be my elf :-)

Aprons

Here are some of my aprons. I sell these at the Memphis Farmers' Market and I take special orders too. To see a larger view of the aprons, just click on the picture. If you see one you like and would like more information about it, just post a comment.

This has got to be one of the cutest found pieces I've ever used for a pocket! It was a vintage hot pad and the apron now belongs to a shopper at the MCA Holiday Bazaar - hope they enjoy it!

This one use to be a tablecloth and a cocktail napkin (with a little new fabric in there too) and now it's a cute little apron! I love it. I always have a hard time letting them go, but it's easier when they go to a good home!!!
